Peruvian Hairless dogs, what a sight

1:13 pm Travel

A lot of exciting things have come out of Peru but nothing as interesting as the Peruvian Hairless dog. The Peruvian Hairless is one of the breeds that sitting U. S. President Barack Obama and family were considering adopting as the official white house pooch, before they decided to go with Bo a Portuguese water dog, who was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy. The Peruvian Hairless is notable because they have no hair, which makes them a site to see. Sometimes you can find some that have a tuff of hair on the top of their heads and the tips of their tails. Those are less desirable if you are planning on showing the dog. Don’t confuse them with the Xoloitzcuintle breed, as those are more commonly known as the Mexican Hairless. Peruvian Hairless Dogs are an ancient breed. Often thought of an Incan dog as it was kept during the Inca Empire, they were also kept as pets by pre-Inca cultures. It’s a very ancient breed and one to marvel at.
