My mother in law finally agreed to let her children pitch in and install one of the diy home security systems in her home.  Two of her sons are electricians, so the job probably won’t take very long or involve much work.  The systems they have these days are relatively simple.  The difficult part was convincing her the slight inconvenience of remembering to set it and turn it off was worth the security and peace of mind it will offer.  We all worry about her being in that part of town, but she refuses to give up the home she raised all her children in.
