Remodeling a kitchen is always a suggestion from realtors when they are considering listing a house.  It seems that people tend to view the kitchen as the most important room.  It is wise to upgrade the kitchen cabinets to solid-wood cabinetry, if possible.  Cabinets can be installed from ceiling to floor, or with room at the top to put decorative jars and the like, depending on preference.  Most cabinets will fill in corners and be sure to make the kitchen as efficient as possible.  If you live in an older house, and are not planning to sell, upgrading your kitchen will still be worth the expense to you in your daily living.
